One of Gloucester’s best kept secrets is Scrapstore, part of a national network, which provides a wild assortment of materials for creative activities and children’s play. The Scrapstores collect surplus materials generated by local businesses, which would otherwise go to waste, and then give these materials a whole new lease of life. The materials are re-used by a wide variety of community groups including art groups and schools and provide the basis and inspiration for so much creativity.
Gloucestershire Scrapstore is just one of the community groups we work with through our partnership with Gloucestershire Gateway Trust. You can read more about our partnership with Gloucestershire Gateway Trust here.
On April 23rd, we will be hosting a very special event! Gloucestershire Scrapstore, one of the most established in the country, have invited Scrapstores from all over the country to meet at our southbound motorway service area to exchange materials with one another. These exchanges are vital to the success of the Scrapstores network, ensuring each centre is able to offer real variety of materials to their local groups. We’re delighted to be able to offer the space the network needs to make their exchanges.
16 Scrapstores, from as far away as Cambridge and Cornwall, will be congregating at Gloucester Services Southbound to exchange their extraordinary wares. It’ll be quite something to behold!
